I've sent out a poll to find the best time and date for this Reading Liberation Psychology group - This is a once monthly reading group gathered via Zoom to support clinicians in deeper consideration of collective, systemic, cultural and community models and how we might work to extricate mental health provision from hyper-individualistic models of pathology and healing.
We will meet once a month and focus on texts that reach beyond individualistic models of mental health and wellness. Happy to include you in the polling for applications I receive this week.
Next week I’ll be attending The Adaptive Mind Workshop all week.
In response to the urgency and rapid unfolding of the climate crises, along with confluent and related global breakdowns, the ability of people to resiliently persist, maintain social capital, and collaborate to make the difficult decisions involved in societal transformation is critical. Taking this urgent need as a starting point, this workshop seeks to define the “adaptive mind”, i.e., the psychosocial propensities, capacities and skills needed to navigate a world characterized by constant, traumatic and transformative change.
Got super intimidated when I saw the list of other attendees/discussants and their impressive credentials. Very much looking forward to hearing what Judith Herman has to say whose work I organized this essay around. I’ll probably talk a bunch about mortality and uncertainty knowing me.
I’m hoping to set dates and times for this second iteration of the Vocation and Discernment Group for Helping Professionals later this week. The intention of this group is to help members engage in ongoing discernment regarding the alignment of their psycho-spiritual values (whatever they may be), their vocational callings and their professional practice.
Please contact me through the form in the link above if you’d like to have a say in the days/times.
I’d still love to get this Integration Circle up and running, but need a few more people to hop on the information list. This group is space for those who have had transformative experiences with psychedelic or plant medicines to integrate the longer term implications into daily life and spiritual practice.
I have set dates for the next session of the Living Intentionally With Mortality Workshop. This workshop is designed for anyone who wants to expand their ability to withstand and accept existential realities, and develop healthier, more related responses to encounters with mortality among their family, friends, and in the wider community and culture.
We will be meeting Tues evenings starting in the last week of February.
I am planning to pause The Group Group and the High Risk Peer Support groups for a bit unless the information/waiting lists fill up. I can absolutely be persuaded to schedule another round if there is sufficient interest!
I have the next essay for this newletter percolating in my drafts. You’ll know as soon as I do when it is finished!
All groups, writing and services are pay-what-you-can and subsidized by donation.
Feel free to contact me with any questions!
Things to Come
Hi Martha, I’m often interested in your groups but being in the U.K. the times can be really tricky/impossible. I’m always interested to hear if there are catch up versions but appreciate with discussions this doesn’t always work. Thank you for all the work you do!
